Monthly Boudoir Q&A
August 2018

This is this month's installment of my boudoir question and answer series, where I answer your questions and respond to some of the most common concerns that my clients and potential client's have expressed to me lately

"I'm Coming From Out Of Town, What Hotels Do YOu Recommend in the Portland Area?"

This is an excellent question, I fully understand that not everyone is able to use their own home as the location for their boudoir shoot, especially if they are coming into town. The fact is that there are a ton, and I mean a ton of great hotel options in the Portland area that will work really well for a boudoir shoot. That being said, there are, of course, some that stand out above the rest for their location, style and decor.
Sensual Boudoir
I have worked with many clients in the past that have chosen to utilize the following hotels in the Portland area and these all turned out to be great locations that could be a great option for you if you are looking to shoot with me while you are in town. These locations are displayed in no particular order, they are all great choices.
  • The Heathman
  • The Mark Spencer
  • The Benson
  • The Nines
  • The Ace Hotel

"How long is The BoudOir session going to be?"

This, really, depends a lot on what you are comfortable with shooting and what type of shoot you have booked. But generally, at the very least most of you should be able to expect a shoot that lasts anywhere from 1.5-2 hours for a standard solo shoot, or 2-3 hours for a standard couples shoot. These numbers vary from shoot to shoot, but for planning purposes I would recommending you block off at least that amount of time for your shoot.

If, for whatever reason, you have some time constraints associated with your shoot (maybe you have plans afterwords or something) then that is no problem at all. Just make sure to let me know ahead of time when you need things to be wrapped up and I will make sure that we are done with everything by the time that you note.

"How far out do I need to book my session before my shoot"

I feel like I have answered this one before, but it comes up fairly often so I just wanted to share my most up to date answer to this question here. Ideally, if you are looking to get products out of your shoot with me, something like a box of 5x6 prints or maybe an album, then you are going to want to book your session for at least 1 month before the time that you need those products.

So for example, say your partners birthday is on the 1st of July, you are going to want to make sure that your shoot happens before the 1st of June. Generally, I can get these products to you much quicker than that one month timeframe, but depending upon how busy I am in a given month, sometimes things can take a little longer than usual, so I like to make sure that we have plenty of time to make sure you have your products when you need them.

But additionally, I am usually booked out at least 1.5 months ahead of time, so if you were looking to have your shoot done before the 1st of June like in the example above. That would mean that you would want to contact me to pay your retainer and reserve your shoot day/time by mid-late April.

So just keep all of that in mind when you are deciding about when to get things rolling for your shoot.
